Here are some guidelines that will help, if you are thinking about auditioning for The Dance Factory Show Troupe.
The Show Troupe represents The Dance Factory's premier most advanced level of our performing groups. This level of dancer takes anywhere from 3 to 8 hours per week – demonstrating skilled technique, advanced movement styles and an unparalleled performance quality. These dancers choose Show Troupe as a priority over all other extra activities and understand that, more than likely they will not be able to commit to other activities throughout the year. These dancers attend competitions and conventions on a regional and national level every year. Show Troupe dancers attend competitions and conventions on a regional and national level every year and are expected to be well rounded, poised and extremely focused dancers while adhering to the intense demands (monetary and time) of a Show Troupe member.
Again – Please note that the commitment to Show Troupe is a big one…not leaving extra time for other serious, outside activities. This is important to understand before auditioning for any spot on any Show Troupe team.
Each year new applicants and existing members attend Dance Camp. After a week of intensive study in ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical technique, auditions are held on the last day for our competition team. Each dancer auditions before a panel of judges selected by Ms. Debbie. The results are posted at the end of the audition process. If you are a new student and missed out on our dance camp, special auditions will be offered. Please contact the office for an audition. Training in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop is recommended, however, each dancer will be reviewed based on their ability.
The Dance Factory Show Troupe is a non-profit organization. To help off-set the expense of costumes, entry fees, accessories and other competition fees, we have fundraisers through-out the year, we accept donations, gifts and/or contributions to help defray the cost. Letters for support and contributions can be obtained from the DF Show Troupe organization.
Several scholarships are awarded each year. The DF scholarships are given to deserving young dancers that choose the Show Troupe as the expansion of their dance education. The Dance Factory recognizes the talents and the dedication of these dancers and their parents. To learn more about this program and other opportunities, contact the Show Troupe Organization at the DF.
